Context of the origin of The Latvian National Ballet (2019-2021)

This educative research project is taking place since September 2019 within his studies at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, where he is researching the origin of the Latvian National Ballet within Latvia’s complex historical-cultural context in the early 20th century, when Riga established itself as a crossroads of cultures. Its roots lie on the Russian imperialism from the Mariinski Ballet in Saint Petersburg, on the European avant-garde from Paris, driven by Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes, and on the rise of the Latvian Awakening. All this led to the following production:
